SECTION HEAD OF ELEPHANTS



 A unique opportunity has arisen at Howletts Wild Animal Park in Kent whereby we are looking to fill the position of Elephant Section Head.




The job role is to manage one of the world’s most successful captive breeding groups of African elephants. Howletts has bred a total of 21 elephant calves over the past 40 years.



There are 5 people in the elephant team, managing a total of 14 elephants. Their focus is the continued breeding success of the herd; maintaining the highest standards of welfare possible and enriching the lives of the animals in their care.



The successful candidate will ideally have previous elephant management experience and will have had a minimum of 5 years experience within a main stream animal collection. A proven track record of personnel management is also required.



A proactive approach coupled with good organisation and communication skills and an overall understanding of the role of the modern animal collection is essential, as is a full valid driving licence.
