Internship -- American College of Nurse Practitioners

INTERNSHIP
Administrative Services
The incumbent is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the office including:
• Answering telephones;
• Supply ordering and inventory;
• Mail and shipping of packages;
• Other duties as assigned.

Organizational Relations with Customers
The individual in this position provides the initial voice and face of the organization when responding to members who call, email or write the organization. The incumbent is expected to respond within 24 hours to inquiries from members and potential members. The responses should reflect a basic knowledge of the organization, the issues of the day and clearly present the goals and objectives of a membership driven association.
Valid inquiries that cannot be addressed effectively the same day should be researched and responded to as soon as possible. All member issues that occur repeatedly should be assessed and if appropriate, become the source of a more robust solution in order to save staff and effort.

Membership Services
Daily data entry of membership applications into the database which are received via mail or fax. Monthly, new and renewing members receive a packet of information along with their membership cards. The intern will be responsible for production of these materials, assembling the membership packets and mailing them out to our new and renewing members.
Liaison Duties
As directed, liaison with American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for ACNP membership data that they require to determine discount status of their NP applicants. This involves checking the member status in the ACNP membership database and reporting the results to ANCC. These lists contain 50-60 names and are requested every two weeks.
Research
The intern may be asked to provide some basis research on behalf of staff and occasionally drafting a memo outlining the results of their research.

Experience
A bachelor’s degree is recommended but not required. The candidate should have skills using Microsoft Office. A demonstrated background or interest in health care issues or public policy is highly desirable.
