Military Legislative Assistant: Republican Member of the House Armed Services Committee seeks a skilled Military Legislative Assistant to cover a portfolio of legislative issues that includes defense and veterans’ affairs. Primary responsibilities will include managing HASC-related activities, briefing the Member and senior staff, building and maintaining relationships with the veteran community, reviewing responses to constituent mail, and managing defense-related initiatives on behalf of the Member. Competitive candidates will have at least two to three years of prior experience as a Legislative Assistant or in a similar position. Additionally, prior military service is highly valued. Candidate must be detail-oriented, professional, entrepreneurial and knowledgeable. Effective written communication skills are required.
