New York’s Displaced Homemaker Program has helped 4,000 women over the past year. The program is designed to help people who find themselves in need of a job due to marital separation, divorce, death of a spouse, or because a spouse has become unemployed. The Displaced Homemaker Program has successfully served 200,000 women statewide over the past 31 years. That’s why the Labor Department is encouraging more people to take advantage of this successful program. It teaches long-term homemakers vital computer skills, job search techniques, and interview skills. The program also offers workshops on resume building. To learn more about the Displaced Homemaker Program visit or call one of the 22 centers across the state.
