Position: Director Research Scientist - Algorithm Development
Location: Milpitas, CA
Duration: Full time

Job Description:
The pattern Wafer Inspection Group (WIG), conceives, develops, manufactures and markets pattern wafer inspection equipment for the front end semiconductor manufacturing process counting all major semiconductor manufacturers amongst its key customers. WIG is comprised of five divisions, High Resolution Patterning, Blank Wafer Inspection, Macro inspection, Software and E-Beam inspection & review products.

We are looking for a person with significant proven technical and leadership capability in the field of machine learning, image processing, image classification and statistical signal processing. The person will be working inside the Wafer Inspection Group (WIG) and is expected to eventually become the leader of a cross group algorithm team that can span across multiple divisions. We are looking for a dynamic leader who can understand complex system requirements in image classification assimilate existing methods (internal and external) and help define and formulate unique solutions. This leader should have a proven track record at not only significant technical innovation, but also in building and leading a team of senior Ph.D level algorithm and software scientists.
Responsibilities:
1) The job requires a proven innovative track record in the related fields of image processing, statistical signal processing, image analysis and machine learning.
2) The person should have a background in engineering/math/physics that allows them to be comfortable and conversant in a range of disciplines from optics, image formation, noise analysis and solving optimization problems (forward and inverse).
3) Domain knowledge and practice in the semi-conductor defect detection, analysis and classification space is a bonus.
4) In addition, the ideal candidate will have significant expertise and comfort with software systems, architectures, parallel computing infrastructures and with the emerging field of big data and associated analytics.
Preferred Qualifications:
This position is open worldwide with a strong preference for the bay area. We are willing to entertain candidates initially being located in other geographical locations, but they should be willing to travel extensively to headquarters and eventually move to Milpitas.

Prefer a Ph.D in one of the following disciplines - Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Astro-Physics, or Statistics.

Prefer 10 years in industry experience but will also consider candidates working at world class academic research universities and labs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctorate (Academic) with at least 7 years of experience
OR
Master's Level Degree with at least 8 years of experience
OR
Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 10 years of experience.
