Two Positions -- Ford's Theatre Society

Work With Ford's TITLE: Museum AssistantDEPARTMENT: Exhibitions IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Curator of Exhibitions FLSA: Part-time, Non-exempt BASIC FUNCTION:The Museum Assistant supports the Curator of Exhibitions in any/all of the department’s varied activities including but not limited to providing logistical, planning and implementation support for Ford’s Theatre Society’s museum programs, including tasks associated with daily operations, exhibition development, collections management, exhibit programming, and publications and public inquires. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinates temporary exhibition logistics: Assists in the coordination of all artifact loans for temporary exhibitions. Maintains paper and digital collection records and periodic inventories. Creates and sends facility reports to prospective lenders. Maintains permanent and temporary gallery spaces: Performs day-to-day maintenance of exhibition and storage spaces. Monitors and tracks gallery and storage environmental conditions. Supports the exhibitions department: Follows up on internal and external inquiries. Creates external department communications. Supports the exhibition program: Proofread, distribute and update exhibitions lists, labels, and other exhibition-related text. Manage content from digital My Lincoln Video project. Other Duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in humanities, history, museum studies or related field. Master’s Degree or currently pursuing a graduate degree in a related field preferred. Knowledge and Skills: Excellent coordination and computer skills Excellent oral and written communications skills Ability to work independently Knowledge of standard museum methods Must be available to work extended hours as needed during installations/de-installations and special museum events Must be able to lift boxes weighing up to 25 pounds, climb ladders, navigate stairs and not have restrictions bending down or reaching above head. Experience: Preferred candidate will be a graduate student or hold a degree in museum studies or public history from an accredited institution, with a focus/interest in exhibition development, collections management or museum administration. Experience working in museums preferred. Undergraduate candidates will be considered if they have previous museum work experience. Title: Ticket Services AssociateDepartment: Ticketing Immediate Supervisor: Ticket Services Manager FLSA: Non-exempt Ford’s Theatre and Museum is seeking part-time Ticket Services Associates for several possible shifts, including weekday, weekend, and evening. We are looking for candidates who are detail-oriented, efficient, energetic, and outgoing in order to provide excellent overall customer service to Ford’s Theatre patrons. Ford’s Theatre welcomes a high volume of visitors each year (almost one million annually). Ford’s is open 363 days a year, from 8:30am to 5pm for regular business. On nights of performances, the hours are extended to 8pm. Our Associates will work an average of 15-25 hours per week, depending on their availability. Duties include: Dispersing information about Ford’s Theatre and other local visitor attractions such as museums and restaurants Selling tickets for Ford’s daytime visitation entries and theatre performances Light reception work Other duties as assigned Requirements: High school graduate Excellent communication skills Ability to be completely present, with focus on the job at hand Work as part of a team in a very busy environment with occasional stress Familiarity with Microsoft Office Previous box office experience preferred, particularly with use of Archtics Ability to work minimum of 10-15 hours per week, with minimum shift of 3 hours Patience and a good sense of humor $10 per hour plus free theatre tickets and the opportunity to be a part of history at Ford’s!
