Summary The Action Committee for Rural Electrification, ACRE is NRECA’s political action committee. ACRE was formed in 1966 with the mission of making the voice of rural electric cooperative consumers heard in the U.S. Congress. Currently, ACRE is among the top 100 largest PACs in the nation with over 29,000 individuals contributing. ACRE is truly a grassroots PAC. Nearly 6,000 of our members are electric co-op consumer-owners who have joined the ACRE Co-op Owners for Political Action Committee. The ACRE Program Advisor is to actively interact with statewides and local Rural Electric Cooperatives (RECs) to develop and implement sound ACRE fundraising plans that will retain and recruit new contributors to ACRE Co-op Owners For Political Action. Develop material, videos and any other items of use in this effort. Must be able to establish rapport and credibility; have good communication and writing skills in order to be effective. Candidate must be familiar with federal (FEC) and state PAC laws. Must be politically savvy and have campaign experience. Purpose and Mission • Manage all aspects of the Co-op Owners outreach program, including serving as lead facilitator for statewides and local RECs in the creation of ACRE strategic planning efforts. • Implement new initiatives authorized by the NRECA board of directors to educate cooperatives on the importance of being politically active and supporting ACRE and ACRE Co-op Owners. • Create and implement ACRE Co-op Owners For Political Action contributor programs targeted to reach Member-Owners. Write, edit and oversee production of material, supporting documentation as needed to inform cooperative of these programs and assist their implementation at the local level. • Manage, coordinate, and continually seek to increase membership and lead “on the ground implementation” of programs by visiting individual cooperatives and statewides and by providing additional guidance in the established procedures, practices and policy guidelines established by the Federal Election Commission. • Effectively communicate to ACRE contributors in writing and through oral presentations using video, websites and other means to inspire and maintain commitment to ACRE programs. • Design and develop customized communications vehicles for cooperatives to inform grassroots advocates on local and national issues utilizing, electronic communication strategies and video. • Write, layout, and produce electronic quarterly ACRE Action and ACRE Co-op Owners Newsletters. • Assist in planning and implementing yearly ACRE CEO academies, ACRE workshops and ACRE Training camp. • Build and continue relationships with local and statewide PAC staff. • Assure compliance of ACRE programs with federal law. • Become an expert in the importance of NRECA legislative issues and communicate this to employees and member-owners. • 20 – 25% travel to cooperatives and statewides upon request and must be capable of working independently away from office. • ADDITIONAL DUTIES a) Attend NABPAC, PAC Briefings and FEC seminars upon request b) Interact with fast-paced lobbying team c) Understand protocols for working with elected officials. d) Attend weekly ACRE meetings Requirements and Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree • 2+ years of PAC/Campaign/Hill experience • Working knowledge of FEC Regulations and Accounting • Proven project skills with an emphasis on the development and implementation of new and innovative ways to solicit members; Must be able to manage multiple projects at various stages of development and customize for unique situations • Excellent interpersonal communication, presentation and persuasion skills; ability to work with diverse groups such as membership and co-op consumers • Must be able to work across departments including IT, Finance and Membership About this companyNRECA Following companyUnfollow companyFollow company The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) represents the national interests of consumer-owned electric utilities.
