Country Director

Mines Advisory Group
Closing date: 19 Sep 2013

Total salary package of £53,960- £58,424 GBP per annum (approx. $84,231 - $91,199 USD)

MAG supports development in countries emerging from conflict by finding and destroying the debris of conflict so that men and women can raise their families, and pursue their livelihoods, in a safe and secure
environment, free from fear of death or injury. MAG has been working in Libya since 2011 conducting technical clearance work and delivering risk education to local communities to further reduce the threat to the life and limb of local populations.

MAG is seeking a Country Director to lead our programme in Libya. As the most senior representative in-country, you will be responsible for leading the country programme, implementing existing projects and developing new business, in compliance with contractual obligations and MAG’s mission and mandate.
The Country Director position is a varied and busy role, requiring both strategic leadership and hands-on involvement to ensure the delivery of day-to-day operations. Reporting to the Regional Programmes Manager in HQ, responsibilities will include contract management, donor liaison, business development, capacity building and risk management.
The Country Director will be based in Tripoli with travel to MAG’s operational bases as required.
This is not a technical role and previous mine action experience is not essential. Experienced programme managers from all development sectors are encouraged to apply. To succeed in this role, you will need previous experience managing large scale projects within post-conflict environments, including experience managing large national and international staff teams. You will also need experience in managing concurrent projects, funded by multiple grants, within complex internal and political frameworks.
How to apply:
For further information and details of how to apply, please visit the jobs pages of the MAG website www.maginternational.org by the closing date of 19 September 2013.
Due to the nature of this project, candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible and shortlisting will take place as applications are received.
