State Bank of India, Bangladesh Operations Country Office, Dhaka Recruitment of Trainee Assistant Officers (TAO) in State Bank of India State Bank of India (SBI), with a 206 years history, is the largest commercial Bank of India, in terms of assets, deposits and profits and ranked 60th in the top 1000 “Banks in the World”. In Bangladesh, SBI’s presence dated back to 5th may, 1975, and at present SBI have branches at Dhaka (Motijheel & Gulshan), Chittagang, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Khulna, with an ambition to further increase its branch network in Bangladesh in the coming years. SBI intends to recruit young and energetic fresh graduates with professional outlook and satisfying various other standards decided by the bank, at the level of Trainee Assistant Officer (TAO), for its Country Office as well as various branches(existing and future), through a combined written examination followed by group discussion / personal interview. Applications are invited from eligible Bangladeshi Citizens for appointment as TAO in State Bank of India. Candidates selected are liable to be posted anywhere in Bangladesh. Based on the result in the written examination (WE) and group discussion / personal interview, bank will prepare a merit list of all successful candidates based on a standard decided by the bank and appoint them on the basis of available and future vacancies

/(2) till the availability of successful candidates in the merit list / (3) till the next selection process is completed. The detailed SELECTION PROCESS is as under. Schedule of Events 1.EXPECTED MONTH OF WRITTEN EXAMINATION: AUGUST 2013. (Actual date of examination will be communicated through the ADMIT CARD to the eligible candidates) 2.VACANCIES: Vacancies are provisional and may vary according to the requirements of Bank, as also various other factors like opening of new branches, etc.
3.ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA : (AS ON 1ST JANUARY, 2013) (A) Essential Academic Qualifications: Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University or any equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Bangladesh Government, including graduation / post graduation in Development Studies of Dhaka University with minimum CGPA 3.00 out of 4.00 or 3.50 out of 5.00 (or First class), and the applicant shall consistently have the same result throughout his/her career, i.e.SSC,HSC/Under Graduate. (B) Age Limit: As on 1ST JANUARY, 2013 Not below 21 years and not above 30 years as on 01.01.2013 i.e candidates must have been born not earlier than 01/01/1983 and not later than 31/12/1992 (both days inclusive) Relaxation in the Upper Age Limit can be considered in case of exceptionally qualified and experienced candidates.
4. SELECTION PROCEDURE: (a) Phase-I: Written Examination (250 marks) consisting of Objective Tests and Descriptive Test. (i) Objective Tests (200 marks): The Objective Tests with 2 hour duration will consists of 4 Sections with 50 marks each as follows: (a) Test of English Language (Grammar, Vocabulary, Comprehension etc) (b) Test of General Awareness, Marketing and Computers (c) Test of Data Analysis and Interpretation (d) Test of Reasoning (High Level) The candidates are required to qualify in the Objective Tests by securing passing marks, in each of the tests, to be decided by the Bank on the basis of the performance of all the competing candidates taken together in each test to a minimum required level for each category. (ii) Descriptive Test (50 marks): The Descriptive Test with 1 hour duration will be of “Test of English Language (comprehension, short précis, letter writing & essay)”. The candidates are required to qualify in the Descriptive Test by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank. Descriptive Test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who have scored qualifying marks in the Objective Tests as stated above in para 4(a) (i). (b) Phase-II: Group Discussion (20 marks) & Interview (30 marks) The aggregate marks of candidates qualifying in both the Objective Tests and Descriptive Test will be arranged in descending order in each category and the candidates in the order of merit, subject to 3 times the number of vacancies in each category, will be called for Group Discussion and Interview. The qualifying marks in Group Discussion & Interview will be as decided by the Bank. (c) Final Selection: The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-I and Phase-II separately. Marks secured by the candidates in the Written Test (out of 250 marks maximum) are converted to out of 75 and marks secured in Group Discussion & Interview (out of 50 marks maximum) are converted to out of 25. The final merit list is arrived at after aggregating converted marks of Written Test and Group Discussion & Interview out of 100 for each category. The selection will be made from the top merit ranked candidates. Results of the candidates who have qualified for Phase II and thereafter, and the list of candidates finally selected will be available on the Bank’s website.
5. DATE OF WRITTEN EXAMINATION (PROVISIONAL): In the month of August 2013. (Actual date of examination will be communicated through the ADMIT CARD to the eligible candidates) The Written Examination will be held at DHAKA. Considering the number of candidates applied/appearing from a particular place, bank may decide to conduct examination at additional centre(s) and such decision would be advised to the candidates prior to the date of examination.
6. EMOLUMENTS: During probation period of one year the TAO will draw a consolidated salary TK.20,000/- per month. On successful completion of the probation period they will be placed as AO.Bank has been generous in deciding and paying the compensation package. The yearly outgo to the bank per TAO on CTC (cost to company) concept is around TK3.65 lacs, with starting basic pay at Tk13,000. In addition, the Officers are also entitled to other benefits like – (i) Medical Aid (ii) Home Travel Concession/Leave Fare Concession (iii) Concessional Interest Rates for Housing/Car/Personal Loans (iii)Bonuses(Profit Linked + Festival + Annual). (iv)Training abroad (India). CAREER PATH The TAO will be on probation for one year during which they will be on the job training and will be subjected to a screening process. While those Officers who achieve the predetermined standards may be confirmed and given permanent placement in the bank, others who fail to qualify in this process will be terminated. Note: The Bank would be analysing the responses of a candidate with other appeared candidates to detect patterns of similarity.
