Responsibility for all aspects of design and implementation with a strong emphasis on architecture and leveraging the latest open source technologies
Data analysis to ensure high performing systems serving high volume applications are running smooth
Develop and support a performance / stress environment and tools to support failure analysis, and support high-quality releases to production with rigorous stress environment tooling
This individual will be interfacing with Cloud Services Engineering, Quality Assurance, Operations, Program Management and other development teams.
This individual should be able to grasp the software system design and implementation and design performance and stress test cases and plans to ensure such systems can scale in production. We want to build a flexible service for stress and performance with amazing tools that allow engineers to pinpoint performance issues fast.
Specific Knowledge/Skills:
At least 8 years of experience in software development as a Senior Software Engineer
Must have:
- Experience with in high-performance, high scalability distributed programming
- Expert in multi-threading and concurrency concepts
- Expert in Java for service development but uses language as a tool
- Good working experience of programming in Python and Java, J2EE. Experience in scripting testing automation frameworks or systems is a huge plus
- Good understanding of network protocols, especially TCP/IP and HTTP
- Good understanding of database design and SQL
- Very good understanding of interpreting and measuring system and software metrics / KPIs
- Experience developing service oriented architectures (SOA)
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Results oriented, product focused
- Team player, values the project, company and co-workers. High energy and passion towards integrating new features
- BSCS is required
Nice to have:
- Experience with the following products and technologies: Linux, Apache, Jetty or Tomcat, MySQL, Java
- Shell scripting experience
- Familiar with web front end technologies like Apache Axis, JQuery and Dojo or proprietary web service implementations
- Experience with large data management systems like Cassandra, Hadoop, Lucene and web 2.0 technologies a plus
