Job Summary
The Training and Curriculum Advisor shall review and develop curriculum and training delivery methods, as well as development of mentoring guidance and tracking of training efficiency. Will be assigned related duties by Program Management and the Customer. Will also suggest improvements to training delivery methods.Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
Create and review curriculum.
Assess training and suggest improvements to training delivery methods and develop a mentoring manual for use throughout the mission.
Assist in any project involving training and education of police to include scheduling and maintenance of training records.
Conduct periodic assessments of training.
Development and review of point of instruction (POI) curriculum ensure accountability of all police training as directed.
Provide weekly activity reports detailing significant events, progress on projects and milestones towards mission accomplishment.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills
Field Training Officer (FTO) certification and or certified Law Enforcement instructor.
Knowledge and experience in writing curriculum for and instructing at a municipal, state or national academy.
Specialized training experience such as Specialized/Advanced police training, Criminal Investigations Training, Narcotics, Methods of Training.
Strong computer skills.
Strong oral communication skills.
Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment.
Experience & Education
Four (4) year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
Minimum 10 years full time sworn law enforcement experience in the United States.
Five years as law enforcement trainer; prior mission experience maybe count, but must be time spent directly in a training or curriculum development role.
Certification from a state or national agency as a law enforcement trainer/instructor.
Additional experience/education may be required by contract or assignment.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Place of duty and environmental conditions can be extremely austere, harsh, and work can be performed under hostile and life-threatening conditions.
Must pass pre-deployment medical screening as required by the contract.
Travel
Travel will be required within area of assignment.

Candidates must complete a 14 day Personnel Assessment Selection Training (PAST) course as part of the final hiring process for this position. A daily rate is paid to each candidate for each PAST day attended, but candidates are not entitled to benefits. Lodging and meals are covered. Areas of PAST include but are not limited to:

The Endurance Run covers a distance of 1/4 mile. The candidate is required to wear body armor (level 3 or 4 flak jacket weighing on average 27 lbs), a holster with training pistol, and a slinged training rifle (approximate weight 8 lbs). The one-quarter mile run includes one set of stairs both up and down, and must be completed within 2 minutes 30 seconds (2 1/2) minutes or less.
The Physical Agility Obstacle Course must be run within 2 minutes and the candidate is required to wear the same equipment as the endurance run. The Physical Agility Obstacle Course consists of: candidate is required to wear body armor (level 3 or 4 flak jacket weighing on average 27 lbs) with a holster with training pistol, and a slinged training rifle (approximate weight 8 lbs).
· Jumping 2 ft
· Climbing over a 4 ft wall
· Climbing and descending a 6 ft staircase while carrying two (2) 30 lbs ammo cans
· Crawling through a tunnel of approximately 15 ft
· 75 yard sprint
· Climbing a 20 foot ladder
· Dragging, pulling, or carrying a 185 lbs dummy for 20 ft
· Dry firing the trigger on a 9mm handgun four (4) times
·
There is no required course sequence other than the requirement that the dummy drag and 9mm trigger pull shall be the last two activities of this event. and must be completed within 2 minutes or less

Upon successful completion of PAST, candidates attend a Deployment Center for approximately 5 – 7 days of additional processing.
