Legislative Director -- House Member Personal Office

Midwestern House Republican seeks experienced, motivated, detail-oriented candidate to fill open Legislative Director position in the Washington, DC office. Position is responsible for the constant monitoring of legislative developments while also assisting in the development of legislative and policy initiatives, formulating tactical plans for advancing legislation and actively supervising the legislative functions of the office, among other duties. Qualified candidates must have a minimum of three full years’ experience as a congressional legislative assistant or higher position on Capitol Hill. Successful candidate will possess a proven track record as a practical fiscal conservative, energized, proactive, organized, entrepreneurial, creative and self-motivated legislative staffer; with proven political and management skills and judgment; a capability to successfully assemble and advance broad legislative initiatives and excellent verbal and written communications skills. An intricate knowledge of agricultural policy and of the appropriations process is a plus.
