Library Director - Hagaman Memorial Library, East Haven

Library Director - Hagaman Memorial Library (East Haven) is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative director with a strong commitment to public library service and the vision to lead the library in the 21st century. The successful candidate will have an MLS from an ALA accredited program and a minimum of 5 years’ increasingly responsible management/supervisory experience in a public library. Comprehensive knowledge of: professional library principles and practices; public library functions, facilities and operations; patron needs and library services to meet those needs; standard library automated system modules. Experience in: financial, budget and human resources management. Demonstrated ability to: administer library operations and projects; establish and maintain effective working relationships with board, staff and Friends of the Library as well as local government officials, community organizations and the public; strong communication skills, both oral and written, and strong problem-solving skills. East Haven, CT is a shoreline community with a population of 29,257. Our 15,400 square foot library is located in a historic building in the center of town. Our collection numbers 70,000 items with a circulation of over 140,000. We have a friendly and service oriented staff of 6 full-time and 14 part-time members. The Hagaman Memorial library is an association library governed by a 9-member board of trustees. 90% of our $802,000 budget is provided by the Town of East Haven. We are a member of the Bibliomation consortium, which links 60 libraries across Connecticut through Evergreen, its open source ILS. Salary: $60,000 (35-hour week) with comprehensive benefits package.
