HOUSE GOP JOBS 8/20/2012 Internships- Congressman Randy Hultgren (IL-14) is now accepting applications for fall semester internships in his Washington, DC. The internship would open immediately for the Fall with some flexibility for start/end dates. Illinois ties are a plus but not required. Interns will be responsible for greeting visitors, answering phones, giving tours of the US Capitol, drafting correspondence, attending hearing and briefings, and assisting staff with policy-related projects. In his DC office, internships run throughout the fall, spring or summer semesters for qualified college juniors and seniors, or recent college graduates.Duties include but are not limited to: answering phones, running errands, researching legislation for the Member and legislative staff, leading Capitol tours, attending hearings and briefings, and answering constituent letters on various issues before the House. As a result, interns learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office. The hours are flexible to accommodate students' hectic course schedules, but generally run 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. when Congress is in session, and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. when not in session. Applicants should possess a great work ethic; have agreeable communication skills, and strong writing skills. Arkansas ties are ideal, but are not required.
